Absentee Ballot Application & Military Absentee Ballot Application

The Annual Budget Vote and Election of Board of Education Candidates is slated to take place Tuesday, May 18, 2021. All voting is scheduled to take place in-person, 6:00 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the Ruben A. Cirillo High School, 3195 Wiedrick Road, Walworth, NY 14568.

Notice is hereby given that military voters who are qualified voters of the district may apply for a military absentee ballot. Military absentee ballot applications are available below or by contacting the Leslie Ferrante, Clerk of the District, at 315-986-0610 or lferrante@gananda.org. The request for a military absentee ballot application must be transmitted to the Clerk of the District no later than 25 days prior to the vote day, April 23,2021. The military absentee voter may designate their preference for receiving the military absentee application, either by regular mail, fax or email. If no preference is indicated, the regular mail will be used.

Notice is also given that applications for absentee ballots may be obtained from the office of the Clerk of the District in person until the day before the vote or by mail received at least seven days prior to the day of the vote at 1500 Dayspring Ridge, Walworth, NY 14568.

On April 27, 2021, the Governor signed an amendment to Education Law sections 2018-a and 2018-b, which govern the granting of absentee ballots for school district elections.  The amendment specifies an absentee ballot may be issued to a qualified voter who is unable to appear personally at the polling place of the school district because there is a risk of contracting or spreading a disease-causing illness to the voter or to other members of the public. The legislation is in place for 2021 only.  An individual must apply for an absentee ballot and the reason for granting an absentee ballot is to fall within the “physical illness” category on the absentee application: A.2 - "unable to appear personally at the polling place on such day because of illness or physical disability."

A list of all persons to whom absentee ballots have been issued will be available for inspection during regular business hours in the office of the Clerk during the five days prior to the day of the vote and available for inspection the day of the vote.
